Statement of the study
The present study was designed to determine; “the effects of stress on second language learning.” this research has been performed in other countries by different researchers, but here we want to do the research on student’s performance in Islamic Azad University of Rasht.
Significance of study
As a matter of fact, we need to develop our life, in order to create communications. After the fall of the Roman empire there was a little progress in communications ,until the beginning of industrial revolution , namely ,the invention of steam engine and the develop of the use of Iron , then people tried to fulfill the shortages. But there were a lot of problems yet. Some blocks as well as, fear, starving, stress, sadness and etc….Also, it was necessary to apply an instrument to solve the problems. Then, in large scales or global perspectives, the most usable instrument were the languages and it continued its way up to now. The people who applied a second language, in order to make relationships, faced above mentioned problems and STRESS as an effective factor is considerable. Scientists believe that stress decreases human abilities and it also causes a lot of limitations. So, it seems that the study over this obstacle is important.
The statement of the hypothesis
The research attempts to find out whether or not there not is any relationship between stress and second language learning. Thus the problem maybe stated as the following:
What is the relationship between stress and second language learning?
The following null hypothesis is devised according to above question:/
There is no relationship between language learning and stress.
Definition of technical terms and concepts
Stress
Stress is a biological term which refers to the consequences of the failure of a human or animal body to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats to the organism, whether actual or imagined. It includes a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance as a coping mechanism, and exhaustion. It refers to the inability of a human or animal body to respond.
Second language
Second language will normally stands as a cover term for any language other than the first language learned by a given learner.
